Women’s Assembly for Afghanistan: Any gathering that takes place without the presence of women and without hearing their diverse voices lacks legitimacy.
In this statement from the Women’s Assembly for Afghanistan, it has been emphasized that any gathering where full and diverse representation of women and marginalized voices is not ensured, will lack legitimacy in the eyes of the international community and the United Nations. The assembly has expressed that the Doha conference, as an important platform for mobilizing global efforts and stakeholders for initiating a political dialogue, must adequately engage various Afghan spectra, including women, civil society, and marginalized minorities. However, the Women’s Assembly is concerned that this event might be misused, and the international community will not trust these processes without full consultation with the representatives of the Afghan people.
