The challenges of adjusting salaries for female employees at the Taliban’s Ministry of Education

The salaries and benefits of female employees at the Taliban’s Ministry of Education have been delayed so far, despite proposals from human resources sources to the group’s minister citing issues with changing the salary system and lack of clarity in leadership directives. In a decree issued by the Taliban’s education minister on Saturday, 9th Cancer, based on the proposal, it was decided to postpone the salaries of female employees to ensure compliance.

A month ago, reports surfaced that the Taliban leader had set a salary of 5,000 Afghanis for female employees who are not currently working, although later this decree was declared adaptable for all female employees and their salaries were paid 5,000 Afghanis across all departments. Additionally, employees dismissed from government offices by Taliban orders did not receive any benefits.

The proposal sent to the Taliban’s education minister still states that changes to the salary system are time-consuming and challenging, requiring more time. It remains unclear how long female employees of the Ministry of Education will remain suspended until the salary system is adjusted according to the Taliban leadership’s directives.
