Gampress – Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has called on the United Nations to reconsider its path and include Afghan women as essential partners in discussions concerning Afghanistan’s future. In her discussions with the UN Secretary-General, she clearly expressed her concern and dismay over the exclusion of Afghan women from the Doha talks and emphasized the importance of their full participation and leadership in these dialogues.

In a message filled with compassion and solidarity, she pointed out that ignoring half of the population in matters directly related to Afghanistan’s life and future is a betrayal of principles of justice and equality. She stated that the actions Taliban are taking against women and girls in Afghanistan amount to identifiable gender apartheid, which must be met with resistance and firm responses.

According to Malala, women’s presence in decision-making and discussions regarding the future of their country is their fundamental human right, which should be equally guaranteed to all individuals.
